Martine Franck [Part 1]

Martine Franck (born 1938) is a Belgian photographer, and a member of the Magnum Photos agency. She was the second wife of photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson after his divorce with Ratna Mohini, and is president and co-founder of the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation, which administrates his estate.

During my trip(France-Italy) i bought two magazins from Cannes....The first was "Black & White Photography" and the second  "Photography"....First i read Β&W Photography...There was an interview of Martine Franck and this is a part of the interview:

..........

Martine Franck was born in 1938-although,i admit that i did ckeck this fact shortly after the interview because it is difficult to believe that this woman-tall and slender with flawless skin-is in her early 70s.She was educated in England and America and studied art history at the university of Madrid and the Ecole de Louvre in Paris .She speaks English with only the faintest trace of an accent!

"I don't pre-conceive a portrait, i let the person decide how they want to be photographed"

"The mixture of strength with gentleness seems to define Martine. And it is certainly the felining characteristic of her portraits"

"It's the reality of colour-the blue sky,the green grass-that i hate!"

"The habit of swapping photographs is obviously popular at Magnum"
